I notice that the 6 x 3 matrix of the Stream Dock has 5 x 3 buttons with visual displays, and 1 x 3 "read-only" display squares on the right column (the "INFO BOARD").
There is only a handful of plug-in choices you can put in that position. The clock, weather or date for example.
I know it doesn't make sense to allow something to be put there that requires a button push or other input for it to work. But I have seen some items which would be perfect to put there but they are not allowed. That includes some default ones, such as Page Indicator which only tells you what page of the scene you are on. It doesn't need to waste a button to display that -- it ignores any button press anyway. The same could be said for other "status" apps like IP info or Uptime counter, the current Nest Control Temperature etc. Of course most of these plug-ins are written by many different developers.
I also notice that some plug-ins, namely the timer and countdown, are allowed to be placed there, yet they require a button press to activate!
Is there a way to force a plug-in for it to be able to use one of these read-only slots? Or does each programmer have to write it in a particular way to work as an info board-compatible plug-in? Do we need to ask each programmer separately to fix their plug-in so it supports being inserted at that position? Or is it a limitation that can be fixed in the configuration program?
Can you fix the Page indicator default plug-in to be able to work in one of these slots? It currently shows a "prohibition sign"
error message if I try to drop an incompatible plug-in on that row.
Thanks.
