I've just checked the code of com.gifs.streamdock.GabilanGames.sdPlugin.
It sequentially sends static gif images to the button frame by frame (12 files) using $websocket.setImage().
The frame images actually can be in any format (jpg, png, gif).

That's right, exactly like a gif does, a gif is several images in a single file. The plugin simulates this, takes several images and sends them one by one to the streamdock button causing the perception of a gif

This effect can be achieved, but we have hardware devices that support Gif that are already being tested and will be released later

I understand. I bought my AKP153 a week ago, so I don't want to spend more money on a new model when it's available. I believe that support of animated GIF can be implemented on the current hardware revision using some quirks/hacks (even if it leads to some frame drops).

It's not that this product won't be updated anymore, it's only in terms of supporting GIf. The current product may not meet the requirements, and it can only display the dynamic function of the plugin, because the transfer of Gif will consume more hardware resources
