The hardware supports long presses
This seems to be the correct answer - because from a technical point of view, when a key is pressed, current flows and when it is released, current stops flowing. So it is rather a problem of incorrectly functioning software. So the problem is relatively easy to fix and does not require buying new equipment.
Elgato probably has no problems with this, so if someone wants to buy another new device, it is rather something proven instead of another unreliable device that does not know what errors and oversights it will have (both in hardware and software). There are also more users there, so the pressure on the company to fix errors in the software as quickly as possible is greater.
Another thing is that these keys and knobs do not work as comfortably as in ordinary mechanical computer keyboards or other technical devices (radio or television receivers), so pressing the keys quickly or pressing them for a longer time is less precise. I think that the next versions of the device could have both better keys (nicer to the touch) and better knobs (bearings with a smooth stroke and easy to press gently). The current device, in touch and operation, is more associated with a not-so-expensive toy than with professional premium equipment created for work). |
